PlayBound — Privacy Policy

At PlayBound, your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the PlayBound Discord bot, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

To provide core bot functionality (economy, leaderboards, game tracking, and Premium subscriptions), we collect the following:

1.1 Discord Data

Discord User IDs and Usernames: Used to uniquely identify you across servers, track your points, inventory, factions, and statistics.
Discord Server (Guild) IDs: Used to store server-specific settings, custom shops, and leaderboard rankings.
Channel and Message IDs: Temporarily stored for the duration of active game threads. We do not read or log messages unrelated to active bot interactions or commands.
Discord configuration / logs: During interactions with PlayBound, technical data may be written to log files (e.g. date and time, your Discord user ID and username, command used, guild and channel IDs and names). This supports debugging, abuse investigation, and service reliability.
Game Statistics: Games played, wins, streaks, points earned, and similar activity data.

1.2 Payment & Subscription Data

Premium subscriptions are processed through Stripe. When you subscribe:

Stripe collects and stores your payment information (card details, billing address, etc.) directly. PlayBound never receives or stores your full card number or CVV.
We receive from Stripe only what is necessary to manage your subscription: a customer ID, subscription status, and billing period dates.
We store your Discord User ID linked to your Stripe customer ID to grant and manage Premium perks.

We do not collect real-world names, email addresses (unless you provide one for billing), or any information outside of the above.

2. How We Use Your Information

Data collected is used solely to:

Maintain your persistent profile, economy points, and inventory.
Track your ranking on global and server-specific leaderboards.
Store server administrator configuration settings.
Grant, verify, and manage Premium subscription perks.
Ensure the bot functions correctly (e.g., tracking active game sessions).
Respond to support requests and investigate abuse.

3. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in a secured MongoDB database accessible only to the core development team for maintenance, debugging, and support.
Payment and subscription data is managed by Stripe and subject to their security standards (PCI DSS compliant).
We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy policy of such third-party services (e.g., Stripe), their storage and security of your data, and your use of these services are at your own risk and peril.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (e.g., Stripe for payment processing) or as required by law.

4. Data Retention

Your profile, economy, and game data are retained for as long as you use the bot or until you request deletion.
Subscription records are retained as required for financial and legal compliance, even after cancellation.

5. Data Deletion

If you want your data permanently removed:

Use the /ticket command to open a support request.
Join our official Support Serverr and request a manual data wipe.

Note: Financial transaction records may be retained for legal and compliance purposes even after a data deletion request. Stripe retains payment records per their own data retention policies.

If you are a server owner, removing the bot from your server leaves your server configuration intact (so settings are preserved if you re-invite it). You may request a full server data wipe via our Support Serverr.

6. Children's Privacy

PlayBound is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available in our official repository or via our support channels. Continued use of PlayBound after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

PlayBound is not liable for any privacy violations, data corruption, unauthorized access (hacking), service interruptions due to hardware/software failures beyond our control, and any other legal causes of action reasonably anticipated by PlayBound or the Discord User of these services.

Further, the Discord User agrees to indemnify and hold PlayBound and its officers, directors, employees and agents harmless from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, and costs (including reasonable legal and accounting fees) related to (a) your access or use of our services or third-party services, (b)your violation of these terms, or (c) your negligence or willful misconduct. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM USE OF PLAYBOUND SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD AT THE TIME OF DISPUTE OR CLAIM.

Any action, regardless of form, arising out of or relating to a dispute may be brought by either party not more than one (1) year after the cause of action has accrued.

9. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Nebraska, USA. Any legal proceedings shall be filed in Douglas County, Nebraska.
